A few Grant visitors!

We had some visitors from the distant land of Grant, MI this past weekend. Alec's mom and youngest sister Lauren came for a few days to visit while Lauren had spring break. They arrived thursday evening and left sunday morning. Us girls went to the huge Outlet mall south of us, and found some great deals! The outlet mall was on friday while Alec was working, and then friday night Alec went to the Brewer's game so we had girls night! We went out to dinner (Mexican food), and then watched a chick flick :)

Saturday the four of us headed to Bayshore mall, which is a very cool outdoor mall near us. We had lunch at Cheesecake Factory, which is an amazing place to eat!! Then headed to the water front and checked out the art muesum and walked around.

We had a great time and can't wait till school is done so we can have more visitors! Until then though we are closed for business, I should probably just be on house arrest till the semester is over. 3 more weeks of class and then exam week. So in 4 weeks I will be a FREE woman, and I absolutely cannot wait! We are making summer plans left and right, but still have available weekends for more visitors :)

Here are some pics from last weekend:

Easter Weekend

My whole family was able to come here for the Easter weekend. We had so much fun, it was great! They arrived friday afternoon and then left sunday afternoon. We had a great time playing Wii, having a fire, and going to the zoo.

We were also dog sitting for the puppy again, so we had a full house!

Upstairs Bathroom

Well for the most part our little bathroom face-lift is over. There are a couple things that need to be touched up, but I think it turned out great. I loved having a shower door, but that thing was so ugly and nasty that it needed to go. For now the curtain is great, we will probably get a new shower door in the future but like everything else they are expensive. I really like our shower curtain though (of course, because I picked it out!). Its the same one we used in our apartment (both in GR and the one we had here), so I was excited to welcome it back into our lives again.

This are pictures from our home inspection (a year ago already!!!):

These are the new updated pictures, the things we did are:
  • 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of paint
  • Sanded, primed, painted vanity & light fixture frame
  • Took out shower door, replaced with curved shower rod and curtain
  • Painted trim white
  • Took down spindles (I called them jail bars)
  • New hardware on vanity

I was really nervous about the brown color for the vanity, when it first went on it looked way to dark. But I am used to it now and others have assured me it looks good, so overall I am very very happy with the project. We pretty much put the same color on the walls that was there before (left over paint we had from the 2 extra bedrooms). The walls were so nasty Alec put 2 coats of primer and then 2 coats of paint. It looks SO much better!
So that was our little project that lasted longer than anticipated, but don't they all. He had to do some patching and sanding as well, which means dry-wall dust EVERYWHERE!
We have been in our house now 11months, April 30 will be 1 year. Time flies!!! Some days I feel like we moved in years ago, but other days I feel like we just moved in and I am still unpacking and organizing. We are looking forward to some visitors this summer, and would love to have more!! Especially with me on summer break from school.....bring on the visitors! Until summer though my life is nuts with school, so for the next 6 weeks (yep that is all that's left this semester!) I am going to be studying and homeworking.

Our weekend guests

Last weekend we babysat the twins that I babysit during the week. The two older kids had all weekend sporting events, so we got to have the twins (who just turned 5) and Bradi (their puppy) here for the weekend. We had a lot of fun with them. Gave us a brief glimpse as to what its like to have kids running around the house....haha.

We played some Wii

Zack helped Alec work on the bathroom upstairs.

Zack and Lexi both helped us make a semi-illegal fire in the backyard to take care of all the vines and brush we had around the yard.

Bradi had a good time too :)

This weekend we are excited that my family is coming for Easter. And also we are babysitting Bradi (the puppy) again for the entire week while they are away on spring break! So we will have a full house!!!
